We have a unique approach to our programs and work. The sentence ‘bubbles in war-zones’ describes our passion behind all that we do. Hopelessness kills, as much as a physical disease, but joy inspires hope. We make it our mission to inspire hope in the hearts of children living in war zones by creating happy memories and giving them tools to excel in life.
TRAUMA HEALING
Happy Hearts leads trauma-healing groups for ex-child soldiers & those affected by terrorism & war. We specialize in working with children who have been used in or exposed to combat situations. Read about the realities or being a child soldier here.
PLAYGROUND PROJECT
Play is not a luxury but a necessity. Play heals children from trauma, increases cognitive function, encourages positive social interaction and cohesiveness, and most of all, it’s fun! Click here to join us in a revolutionary project to build the first known public playground in Mogadishu!
EMERGENCY AID
Our main goal is to create sustainable change, but we also respond to emergencies on the ground, as the need arises. We distribute food, medical supplies and toys to some of the most vulnerable.
CHILDREN'S HOME
Established in 2013 in Mogadishu, the heart of the war-torn capital of Somalia, the Happy Hearts Children's Home rescues abandoned children and provides a safe family environment for for them to recover, heal and rebuild their lives.
LEARNING CENTER
Education is key to building peace in war zones. Happy Hearts offers quality basic education preventing militia subscription, reducing conflict and increasing employment opportunities. Upon graduation from our literacy program, we sponsor children in higher education.
GIRL POWER
Over 80% of women in South-Central Somalia are illiterate . The Girl Power initiative reverses this trend by sponsoring education. We are creating rare opportunities for girls to excel.
